Author: Yara Monteiro
Yara Monteiro is a writer, artist, and activist. She was born in Angola in 1979. Her family roots are in the Central Plateau of Angola and in northern Portugal. Her debut novel “Essa Dama Bate Bué!” was published in 2018 by Guerra E Paz Editores and tackles identity, gender, colonialism, and diaspora. She regularly speaks about Afroeuropean narratives, post memory, creativity, identities, and feminism. She is a radio cohost at “Avenida Marginal” (RDP Africa) and is part of the management team of INMUNE - Portuguese Black Woman Institute.
